John W. "Whig" Miller, age 82, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at Crestview Health Care Center in St. Clairsville.
He was born on March 24, 1922 at Steeple Valley, Ohio, son of the late John Joseph Miller and Anna Marie McGill Miller Riggs.
John retired as owner and operator of Miller?s Barber Shop on Wheeling Island after 55 years of service. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Wheeling. John was a member of Bethesda Sportsman?s Association; a member of the Moundsville Gun Club; the Amateur Trap Shooting Association; the NRA and he ran the Old Mill Gun Club in Uniontown.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ellen "Peggy" Nisbitt Miller; and his stepfather, F. Ross Riggs.
Surviving are a daughter, Cheri Farmer and her husband Daryl of Steubenville, Ohio; two grandchildren, Brian Farmer and Deborah Needham; two great grandchildren, Megan and Chad Needham; and a sister, Mary Margaret Mathisen of Niles, Ohio.
There will be no visitation or services at John?s request. Arrangements by Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville.
