John Matthew Turkal, 66, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died February 18, 2017 in Wheeling Hospital.

He was born October 22, 1950 in Bellaire, Ohio son of Wilma Mae Paskel Turkal and the late Matthew James Turkal.

John was a retired supervisor from Ormet Corporation and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He and his wife, Catherine were married in 1972. He enjoyed frequent visits with his children and their families and especially loved spending time with his wonderful grandchildren.

In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Roger Turkal.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine Ann Preston Turkal; his mother, Mae Turkal of Warnock; a daughter, Angela Dawn (James David) Huston of Tallmadge, Ohio; a son, Matthew George (Kate) Turkal of Fort Wayne, Indiana; three grandchildren, Zachary David Huston, Isaac John Huston and Skylar Catherine Turkal; three brothers, Terry Turkal, Randy (Karen) Turkal both of Warnock and Joe (Sherry) Turkal of Belmont; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until time of services beginning at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Wenger officiating. Private burial will be held in Warnock Cemetery.

Belmont County Veteran's Association will conduct full military honors at the funeral home Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
