John Edward Taylor, 81, of Vero Beach, FL, formerly of Uniontown, OH, died March 7, 2018 in VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.

He was born in Uniontown, Ohio on March 30, 1936, son of the late William Carl Taylor and Otie Swann Taylor.

John was retired from East Ohio Gas (Dominion Energy). His favorite pastime was riding his motorcycle. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Belmont and former President of Ohio Valley Motorcycle Club. He was a humble and loving husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Carl Taylor and Donald Wayne Taylor and a grandson, Taylor Jaren McGaffick.

John is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Louise Careway Taylor; three children, Cindi Henry, John Taylor Jr. and Jeryl (Fred) McGaffick; five grandchildren, Cara (Jesse) Halldin, Janie (Derek) Richardson, John (Jamie) Taylor III, Zachary McGaffick and Kelby McGaffick; and two great grandchildren, Camden Halldin and Callan Edward Halldin; several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio where services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Don Schuler officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
