John William Strahl Jr., 69, of Lafferty, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007 at Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling. He was born July 29, 1937 in Morristown, Ohio, son of the late John W. Strahl Sr. and Mary Margaret "Peg" Strahl.

John was a retired employee of Ohio Valley Coal Company # 6 Mine. He served in the U. S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Catlett Strahl.

Surviving are his wife, Leona Strahl; two sons, Charles Strahl of Lafferty, Jeffrey Strahl of Martins Ferry; four step daughters, Juanita, Chris, Carol Jo and Sonya; three stepsons, Sam, Todd and Tom; two sisters, Patty of Dayton and Sandy of Cincinnati; two brothers, Jim of Florida and Ronnie of Barnesville; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Paul Elerick officiating. Arrangements by Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville. Burial will be held at Union Cemetery in Morristown.
