John K. Stewart, Sr., 94, of Flushing, OH, died on December 14, 2021, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born March 2, 1927, in Flushing, OH, the son of the late Clyde and Clarissa (Walker) Stewart.

John was the owner of the Stewart Trucking Company in Flushing, Ohio. He collaborated with many local coal companies through the years, providing an array of services from trucking, reclamation, and demolition. One of his most beloved projects was being one of the contractors in the construction of Barkcamp State Park, which he visited often.

John served as a Corporal in the United States Army, as a Combat Construction Specialist from 1952 -1954, receiving the National Defense Service Medal for serving in the Korean War. He was stationed in Fort Benning, GA, as part of the Special Troop Command and assigned to the 78th Engineering Battalion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Tillison Stewart, Matilda West, Gladys Cassels, Inez Boyd, Charmaine Ball, Clyde "Buck" Stewart, and Marion Stewart.

Surviving is his wife; Betty Jane Stewart, son; John (Greta) Stewart, stepchildren; Rick Cole, Randy Cole Sr., Susie Rogers, Karen Cole, siblings; Shirley (Ernest) Dokes, Donnie (Janet) Stewart, Imagene Hendricks, and Clarissa (Tom) Redman, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

John enjoyed running equipment, working on projects with his son, and spending time with his grandchildren. He especially loved the time he spent with his darling wife, Betty.

There will be a private Celebration Of Life Service held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville.
