Stephen, John David, 71 of Morristown-Flushing Rd., Flushing, Ohio died Saturday, May 7, 2011 at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, Ohio.
He was born December 17, 1939 in Boston, Ohio, a son of the late Harold Stephen and Freda Wells Stephen Fankhauser.
John was a retired coalminer from Oglebay Nortons Saginaw Mine and former truck driver for J.W. Stenger Trucking. He was a member of the UMWA, a loving husband and father, he loved hunting and fishing, and was very active in coaching his daughters in softball.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Pierce.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnie L. Carpenter Stephen; four daughters, Tonia Klug and her companion Mitch Toto of Flushing, Rhonda (Brad) Roach of Bellaire, Melissa (Jason) Dingey of St. Clairsville, and Darla (Robbie) Fuller of Stewartsville; brothers, Daniel Stephen of Pittsburgh, and Tommy Stephen of Hawaii; sisters, Ethel Bizarri of Malaga, Vicki Sue Carlson of Newton Falls, and Jeannie Langley of Virginia; 5 grandchildren, Paige Hashman, Erica Klug, Kalista Roach, Vin Roach, and Cash Fuller; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Wednesday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 12 noon until time of service at 1 p.m. with Wayne Clark officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
