John R. "Sonny" Burghy, 76 of Bobbie Jo Dr., St. Clairsville, Ohio died Monday, January 21, 2008 at his home.

He was born January 26, 1931 in St. Clairsville, a son of the late John R. Burghy and Helen Marie Ault Burghy.

Sonny was a retired truck driver for the city of St. Clairsville, a Presbyterian, and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Bobbie Jo Burghy and a son, Clarence Hoffman.

Surviving are his wife, Bernadine P. "Bert" Palmer Burghy; six children, Terri (John) Knox and John "Mike" (Susie) Burghy of St. Clairsville, Bryan (Rhonda) Hoffman of Glencoe, Carol (Ken) Phillips of Columbus, Betty Burghy and Michelle Smith of the home; three sisters; Lorena (Stanley) Borovich of Glencoe, Margaret Barchanowicz of St. Clairsville, and Arlene (Jim) Webb of Belmont; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Wednesday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. where services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Laurie Armstrong officiating. Burial follows in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
