John W. Parkinson, 70, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, passed away at home on December 1, 2025.
He was born March 24, 1955, in Barnesville, OH, a son of the late Frank "Bip" Parkinson and Elizabeth "Susie" Cunard Parkinson.
John retired after many years at Belmont County Engineers' Office. He was the former owner and operator of Parkinson Surveying and had taught at Belmont Technical College. John was Methodist by faith and was a long-time and active member of Thoburn United Methodist Church, having served on many committees and was a member of the United Methodist Men. He was always involved in his community as he was a former member of Belco Works Board of Directors, former president of AITP Greater Wheeling Chapter, trustee of Richland Cemetery, and belonged to many other organizations over the years. John enjoyed attending WordPress conferences, in which he traveled all over the country doing so. Most of all, John took pride in his faith and always cherished spending time with his loving family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Parkinson.
John is survived by his fiancé Brenda Neff; his children Jessica (Brandon) Uscio and Michael Parkinson; a sister Jane Lemoine; his granddaughter Camryn Uscio; Brenda's children Brian (Paula) Neff and Rachelle (Jay) Hall, and grandchildren Jennifer (Wyatt) and Malorie; and nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 3-8 p.m., at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio, where services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jeffrey Croft officiating. Burial will follow in Richland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Thoburn United Methodist Church, or Belmont County Special Olympics, or The Food Pantry of St. Clairsville.
