John J. Oboy, 91, of Maynard, Ohio passed away Monday, September 13, 2021, at his home.

He was born in Maynard, Ohio a son of the late Walter and Sophia Vicker Oboy on June 8, 1930.

John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at Hanna Coal and Consolidation Coal mines until their closings. He belonged to the UMW Union Local # 1360 and ME-MAA. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville, a member of the PNA Lodge #455 in Maynard, the Fairpoint Polish Club, and the American Legion Post #159 in St. Clairsville.

He loved gardening, listening to the polka party, golfing, bowling, and most sports.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Yudasz, Geneva Piwkowski, Irene Balog, and Ann Luginskie; and a brother, Anthony Oboy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean Dundr Oboy; a brother-in-law, Elmer "Butch" Dundr; two brothers, Edward (Ellen) Oboy and Joseph Oboy; two sisters, Stella Zavacky and Olga (Jim) Lukacsko; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would appreciate everyone wearing a mask or facial covering for the visitation and service.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Friday from 2–4 p.m. & 6–8 p.m., with a Vigil Service beginning at 2 p.m. followed by a PNA Service.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Father Thomas Chillog as the celebrant. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville, Ohio with Full Military Honors conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
