John Lamoine Mercer. Sr., 75, formerly of Wheeling, WV and Canal Fulton, OH died Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Park Health Center in St. Clairsville.

He was born February 23, 1943 in Wheeling, a son of the late Lester Mercer and Laura Meyer Mercer.

John was a former x-ray technician for Babcock & Wilcox in Barberton, OH.

He loved music and singing karaoke.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Garrison Mercer; stepmother, June Mercer; brothers, Daniel & Paul Mercer; sister-in-law, Alice Mercer; nephew, Joshua Mercer.

Surviving are three children, Dawn (Jeff) Sorg of Martins Ferry, Tami (Chad) Adams of Wooster, OH, and John (Diane) Mercer, Jr. of Akron, OH; sisters and brothers, Mary Jean Gibson of Wheeling, Dave (Ann) Mercer of Texas, Sally Pope of Canal Fulton, OH, Russell (Karen) Mercer of Barberton, OH, and Judy (Tom) Sanetrik of Moatsville, WV; 5 grandchildren, Tony Adams, Natalie Adams, Ann Marie Sorg, Emily Gruber, and Amanda Smoot; a great granddaughter Hailee Ebert; many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Friday from noon until time of service at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Wenger officiating.
