November 24, 1941 – March 4, 2026
John S. Marhefka, of St. Clairsville, passed away peacefully in the loving presence of his family on March 4, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on November 24, 1941, to John and Mary (Smego) Marhefka in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
John leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, ingenuity, and hard work. Those privileged to know him appreciated his unassuming wit, wisdom, optimism, and good humor. John enjoyed auto racing, working in the car business, and caring for his beautiful lawn and flower gardens. He will be remembered most for his love and devotion to his wife Barbara, and their family. A faithful Roman Catholic, John’s love of God influenced him throughout all aspects of his life. Married to the love of his life, Barbara, for 64 years, they raised 7 children, enjoyed 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who will carry his legacy.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Marie Marhefka in 2015.
John is survived by his wife Barbara (Engbert) and children: Daphne, Jon (Susan), Pamela, Stephanie (David), Suzanne (Gregory) and Katrina (Allan); grandchildren: Anna, Jonathan, Jerrid (Heather), Sara, Nathaniel (Julie), Mitchell, Baily (Dan), Nicholas, Jacob, Agathe, Oliver, Henri, Max, and two great-grand children: Raella and Beckham. He is also survived by his brother Robert John (Patricia), sister Judy, and many beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 212 W Main St., St. Clairsville on Monday, March 9, 2026 from 9 am until time of Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10:30 am with Father Thomas Chillog as celebrant.
