John A. Gayvont, 73, of Moundsville, WV, passed away October 24, 2020 in Reynolds Memorial Hospital.  He was born October 3, 1947 in Bridgeport, OH, a son of the late Andrew and Francis (Zann) Gayvont.

John retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, after over 30 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the N.R.A., a member of over 50 years of the Eagles, also a longtime member of the Wheeling Sportsman's Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife Brenda (Dilly) Gayvont; children, Candace (Richard) Ballard, Derek Gayvont and Brandi (Rob) Dunn; stepchildren, Amy (Jack) McGarry, Bud (Michelle) Webb and Nicole (Bob) Kalinowski; a brother, Tom Gayvont; 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and facial coverings will be required for a Public Memorial Visitation on Monday from 12 pm to 2 pm at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville. A private service for the family will be at 2 p.m. with Pastor Joel Traylor officiating.  Burial will be in Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove at the convenience of the family.
