John William "Punch" Frew, 67, passed away Saturday peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born November 10, 1954, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a son of the late Gerald D. Frew Sr. and Mary Jordan Frew.

John had an unforgettable presence. He was always a thrill seeker. He used to race flat track motorcycles. Out of high school he became an Ironworker. Those were the days where tying off was unheard of.  John enjoyed riding four wheelers with friends and loved ones. He was a Harley riding enthusiast. Even being bound to oxygen wasn't enough to keep him off his bike. John was always a dreamer and his final dream was to join his Heavenly Father to start his everlasting life. He will be missed by many and remembered fondly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Burian and a brother, Gerald D. Frew Jr.

John is survived by his loving wife, Lynda Lou Blind Frew; four children, Shana (Adam) Smithberger, Casandra (Chris) Kinsey, Michelle (Chad) Kildow, and Jeff (Shirlene) Stiles; eight grandchildren, Jonathon Porter, Leland and Waylon Smithberger, Monroe Kinsey, Justyn and Skye Krupa, Natalie and Jeffrey Stiles; three great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Jaxtyn, and Adalyn; a special uncle, Bill Grimes and aunt, Nancy Bethel.

Honoring John's wishes there will be no public services. Private services were held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville.
