Obituary

John Waldie Borovich, 90 of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Acuity Specialty Hospital in Bellaire, Ohio.

He was born October 22, 1924 in , Ohio, a son of the late Roman Borovich and Mary Moroski Borovich.

John retired as foreman from Oglebay Norton's Saginaw Mine in St. Clairsville in 1982, was a former employee of North American Coal Company's Powhatan Mine, and a devoted farmer.

He was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville, a U.S. Army veteran of WWII receiving the Purple Heart with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster and European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars. He was also a member of American Legion Post # 159 in St. Clairsville, VFW Post # 5356 in St. Clairsville, the Farm Bureau, Ohio Valley Cattleman's Association, UMWA, and FOE Aerie # 2541 in St. Clairsville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Helen Clark, Pauline Kesterson, Sophia Ruble, Mary Trytko, Anna Ball, and Frances Beckett; brothers, Roman and Henry Borovich.

Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Elda Debo Borovich; a daughter, Jill (Jeffrey) Keyser of Bellaire; sisters, Sheila Hughes of Bellaire, Wanda Bunting of St. Clairsville, Mary Bumgardner of St. Clairsville; and Jeanne Sayre of Belmont; brother, Stanley Borovich of St. Clairsville; three grandchildren, Jayson Keyser, Jalynn Keyser, and Justyn Keyser all of Bellaire; several nieces and nephews; close family friend, Mark Meager.

Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Erica Harley officiating.

Burial follows in Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville.

Belmont County Council of American Legions will conduct military honors at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
