John L. "Jack" Bailey, 81, of Neffs, Ohio, died February 20, 2022, in Wheeling Hospital.
He was born April 29, 1940, in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Francis D. "Bub" Bailey and Francena Parks Bailey.
Jack was a retired truck driver with Putnam in Zanesville and former employee of Columbia Gas. He was a U. S. Army Veteran having served in the 82 nd Airborne Division. Jack was a member of the St. Joe Church of Christ and former member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Key, and he was a member of Weyer Lodge #541 F. & A. M. in Centerville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Douglas Bailey and Charles "Chuck" Vickers Jr.; a brother, Melvin Bailey and a sister, Sharon Hinkle.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Margaret "Marge" Davis Bailey; sons, Shawn (Katy) Bailey, and Greg (Jody) Vickers; a daughter, Nettie (Ernie) Hartung; daughters-in-law, Terri and Emily; a brother-in-law, John Hinkle Sr.; a sister-in-law, Stephanie Bailey; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7:45 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg, Ohio, where services will be held on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family in High Ridge Cemetery, Bellaire.
