James "Jimmy" Benda, 57, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died September 6, 2020 at home.

He was born in Wheeling, WV, August 19, 1963, a son of Phyllis Johnson Hendershot and the late William Hendershot.

Jimmy was an independent contractor for Wheeling newspapers and past employee for the city of St. Clairsville for many years. He was a "Girl Dad" and an avid sports fan, especially basketball, and loved the Denver Broncos. Jimmy "didn't know a stranger" and always enjoyed helping people.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sons Zachary and Todd Benda.

Surviving are his fiancé, Gail Kolopajlo; daughters, Brandy Benda, Rachel Benda, Kaitlyn Benda, and Megan Perdok; siblings, Terri Leadenham, Todd Benda, David Hendershot, Rusty Hendershot, Michael Hendershot, Jody Hendershot, Nancy Johnson, Scott Hendershot, and Cathy Dare; former wife Jennie Perdok; a grandson Isaac Benda and Baby Maverick on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

Due COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and facial coverings will be required during the visitation held on Friday, September 11, from 5-8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, OH.
