Obituary

Jean Joseph "J.J." Leonard, 93 of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Friday, March 24, 2017 in Girard, Pennsylvania.

He was born December 20, 1923 in Tiltonsville, Ohio, a son of the late Joseph Leonard and Laura Harris Leonard.

J.J was a retired employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel's Yorkville Plant, a former employee of the Health Plan of the Upper Ohio Valley, a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving in Patton's Third Army in the European Theatre, a member of 1st Presbyterian Church in Martins Ferry, member and Past Master of Ohio City Lodge #486 F&AM in Martins Ferry, Past Commander of Belmont County VFW Honor Guard, member and past Chaplain of VFW Post #5356 in St. Clairsville, and a member of Royal Arch Masons Bellaire Chapter # 107. He was an avid Polka Dancer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Keaton Leonard; three sisters, Dorothy Winslow, Josephine Huggins, and Beverly Cefaldo.

Surviving are two sons, Dr. John Dennis (Sharon) Leonard DDS of Girard, PA, and Rodney G. Leonard of Jacobsburg; step grandchildren, Mike and Catherine Siegel; several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Thursday from 3 p.m. until time of services at 6 p.m. with Rev. Terry Lucarelli officiating.

Burial will be at Belmont County Memorial Park, St. Clairsville at a later date.

Ohio City Lodge will perform Masonic Services at 6 p.m. in the funeral home followed by Military Honors provided by Belmont County VFW Honor Guard at 6:15 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church, 100 S. Marietta St., St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950.
