Jane Isabelle Simms, 91, of Brooklyn, New York, peacefully passed on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NYC.
She was born December 22, 1924, in St. Clairsville, OH, a daughter of Marcellus T. and Rosa J. Jackson Price.
She worked at Wright Patterson Air Base, Dayton, OH, during World War II. Shortly after, she moved to NYC, and worked as a Food Service Dietician in the NYC Public Schools until retirement.
She was extremely loving and had a tremendous heart and was always there to help others in need. She was humble and confident, stubborn yet kind, as well as loyal and generous. She was an avid sports enthusiast, primarily basketball, tennis and golf and she loved trips to the casions. She never forgot one birthday and sent cards on every occasion.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clinzo Joshua Simms; two sisters, Frances and Thelma; and four brothers, Marcellus, Clarence, Charles and Emmett.
Surviving are her daughter, Rojene Simms of New York, son, Gregory Simms of Maryland; brothers, William Harold Price of St. Clairsville and Donald Price of Bridgeport; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 with visiting from Noon until time of Services at 1 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home, 141 S. Marietta St., St. Clairsville, with Pastor James Agnew officiating.
