Jane Simmons Beal, 94 of Lafferty and Crestview Health Care Center in St. Clairsville died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Crestview.

She was born January 26, 1912 in Byesville, a daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Simmons.

She was a homemaker and mother of six children, A Pentecostal by faith and member of Harbor of Hope Church, St. Clairsville. She loved gardening and often said that flowers and plants were her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Virgil Beal; a son, Alton Parker Beal; brothers and sisters, Alice, Tommy, Hilda, Mary and Danny.

Surviving are a daughter, Iona Mae Jendrusik (Joseph) of Midway; four sons, Virgil Beal, Jr. (Rose) of Lafferty, James Beal of Lafferty, David Beal (Judy) of New Athens, Edward Beal (Jan) of West Lafayette, Ohio; a brother John Simmons (Virginia); 19 grandchildren, and several great and great great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dean Myers officiating. Burial follows in Unity Cemetery, New Athens.
