James (Jim) Sayre Jr., 74, of Belmont, Ohio, died Monday peacefully at home on his farm.

He was a devoted family man, union organizer, proud farmer and democrat.

He was an employee of Ohio Ferro Alloy, retired employee of Belmont County Engineer's Department, and Owner of Sayre Real Estate, St. Clairsville.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, 110 South Marietta, St. Clairsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James R. Sayre, Sr. and Virginia E. Sayre.

Surviving are his wife, Jeanne V. Sayre; sons, James (Holly) Sayre of Zanesville, Jerry (Tracy) Sayre of Belmont, Jay (Kara) Sayre of New Albany; grandchildren, Dylan (Amanda) Sayre, Brian (Elise) Sayre, Ashley (Zack Hill) Sayre, Emily Sayre, Hannah Sayre, Nate Sayre; great grandchildren, Harper Sayre, Raegan Sayre, Hudson Sayre; and one sister.

Private funeral services were held at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville with Rev. Homer Harden officiating.  Burial was in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
