James E. "Corky" Sanati Jr., age 63, of St. Clairsville, Ohio passed away on February 25, 2005 in Wheeling Hospital.
He was born July 28, 1941 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, son of the late James E. and Lena Campbell Sanati.
James was a retired teacher and athletic director at Bridgestreet Junior High in Elm Grove, West Virginia. He was a dedicated and caring teacher, a friend to all his students. He was a member of Bannock United Methodist Church; a member of the St. Clairsville Alumni Association; Lowell Lodge #436 F. & A.M. at Lowell, Ohio; a life member of the National Rifle Association; and an avid supporter of the Boy Scouts of America having been an Eagle Scout himself.
In addition to his parents, Corky was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Stewart Sanati; a grandson, Shane Edward Sanati and an aunt, Mary Sanati.
Surviving are his four daughters, Melissa (Joe) Reinbold of St. Clairsville, Kathryn Smith of Bellaire, Jamie Sanati of Moundsville, WVa and Mary Beth Lewis of Woodsfield; two sisters, Ruth Ann (Joe) Panepinto of Morgantown, WVa and Marlena (Rod) Thomas of St. Clairsville; a brother, Joseph Sanati of Selma, Oregon; an aunt, Goldie (Marvin) Ureel of Detroit, Michigan; twelve grandchildren, Christopher, Douglas, Alissa, Austin, Mason, Travis, Trevor, James, Kara, Jacob, T.J., and Mary Jane; 3 nieces; 3 nephews; Greg Smith of Bellaire; and a lifelong friend, Richard Pogany of St. Clairsville.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, where services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ken Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
