James Wade Lowe, 79 of St. Clairsville, Ohio formerly of Beckley, West Virginia died Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at Cumberland Pointe Nursing Home in St. Clairsville.
He was born June 3, 1929 in Cannelton, West Virginia, a son of the late John and Emmaline Lowe.
He was a retired coal miner, a member of Glorious Church of God and Christ in Beckley, and a U.S. Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Serena Pinkard Lowe; two brothers, Nathan and Harliss Burks; two sisters, Thanita White and Bertha Tinkard.
Surviving are his children, Charlotte (Leonard) Payne of St. Clairsville, Marva Wright of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Flora Jean (Larry) Sweatte of Beckley, and John Lowe of Washington, Pennsylvania; a brother, Harold Burks of Newark, New Jersey; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Sunday at Ritchie & Johnson Funeral Parlor in Beckley from 2 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. Entombment follows in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, West Virginia.
