Obituary

GROOMS, James Jr., 90, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Sunday, September 15, 2013 in Wheeling Hospital.

He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on April 20, 1923, son of the late James Grooms Sr. and Madelyn Greer Grooms.

James was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired after 37 years from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel's Martins Ferry Plant. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville where he served as a Deacon and Elder.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildreth Gruse Grooms; and a sister, Virginia Glover.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Sullivan Braden Grooms; a sister, Janice Bowen of Martins Ferry; several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, on Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of Service at 12 p.m. with Rev. Homer Harden officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

Full Military Honors will be provided by the Belmont County Council of American Legions Thursday at 12 p.m. in the funeral home.
