Palmer, James R. Jim, 81 of Pipe Creek, Jacobsburg, Ohio died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, WV.
He was born at Jacobsburg on August 25, 1929 a son of the late Leroy and Mildred Freeholder Palmer.
He was retired from Carpenters Local Union #3, was a Methodist by faith, a member of American Legion Post 521 at Shadyside and VFW Post 5565 at Powhatan Point and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Palmer and a sister Martha Brumback.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Brown Palmer; a sister, Virginia Stokes of Jacobsburg; sons, James Palmer, Jr. of Virginia, Larry Palmer and Rich Palmer both of Jacobsburg; daughters, Linda Carpenter, Cathy Kuhn and Amy Underwood all of Jacobsburg; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, Jacobsburg, Ohio on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. where services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Larry Helms officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
