Bass, James Lloyd Sr. "Pappy", 78, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Wheeling Hospital.

He was born July 5, 1931 in Shadyside, Ohio, son of the late Earl and Virginia Kroggel Keyser Bass.

Jim was retired from Roberts Pontiac in Martins Ferry and was a former employee of Belmont County Recycling. He was a member of Jacobsburg Church of Christ and was a U. S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Bass.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Elizabeth Hendershot Bass; a daughter, Kay Lynn (John) Sowinski of St. Clairsville; a son, James Lloyd (Deanna Saunders) Bass Jr. of Marysville, Ohio; grandchildren, Kyle Michael Sowinski, Juliana Jade Sowinski, Kristin Leigh Bass, Tyler James Bass and granddaughter-in-law, Jessica Harris; a brother, Paul Bass of Bellaire.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of Christ in St. Clairsville on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Everett Hutson officiating.

Full Military Honor Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. by the Belmont County Council of American Legions.
