Jackie E. Scott Sr., 80, of Powhatan Point, died February 19, 2016 in Carriage Inn Nursing Home, Cadiz.
He was born October 16, 1935 in Armstrongs Mills, Ohio, a son of the late William and Wilma Gast Scott.
Jack was retired from North American Coal Company Powhatan # 3 Mine, Care Tree Systems of Columbus, Ohio and a Methodist by faith. He married his wife Joyce April 18, 1954. He loved to hunt, fish, camp and travel. Jack worked many years with the sports programs at Powhatan High School and over 20 years with the River football team, where he was one of the original members inducted on the Wall of Fame.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline Elaine Scott; a son, Jackie E. Scott Jr.; a brother, William Scott Jr.; and a sister, Shirley Drengacs.
Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce E. McMahon Scott; two grandchildren, A.J. (Dee) Scott of Paden City, WV and Kristin (Charles) Wallace of New Martinsville, WV; five great grandchildren, Hunter, Gage and Luke Scott and Kaylyn and Wesley Wallace; a sister, Betty (Rowland) Armann of Powhatan Point; two brothers, Roger (Dana) Scott of St. Clairsville and John (Dottie) Scott of Delaware, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and a special niece Paula.
Family and friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg where services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Lorna Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Armstrong Cemetery.
