June Ellen Kilgore, 87, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 17, 2026. She was born on April 29, 1939, in Wheeling, West Virginia, daughter of the late Frank Edward Hostetler and June Trickett Hostetler.

Ellen was a children’s librarian and led the children’s department at the St. Clairsville Public Library for many years. Known as Mrs. K, she touched the lives of countless children, sharing with them a love of reading. A Presbyterian by faith, Ellen was active in her Bible Study group and served on the Board of Faith in Action in Martins Ferry, Ohio. She was a member of the EB Chapter P.E.O. in St. Clairsville, and that sisterhood was very dear to her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Reed Kilgore, and her brother, David Hostetler.

Ellen is survived by her two loving daughters, Christine (Timothy) McKee of Eaton, Ohio and Elizabeth “Beth” Kilgore (Zac Whinnem) of Santa Rosa, California; and two grandsons, Paul Edward McKee and Joseph Daniel McKee, of whom she was incredibly proud.

Family and friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio, on Saturday, May 23rd from 10 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m., with Rev. Erica Harley officiating. The burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
