Irene Major Aleva, 87 of Crescent Road, St. Clairsville died Thursday, September 2, 2004 at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry.

She was born at Crescent, Ohio on June 10, 1917 a daughter of the late John Major, Sr. and Rose Simon Major.

Irene was a homemaker and a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at Maynard, Ohio.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Aleva and two daughters, Sylvia Rose Aleva and Sylvia Rose Aleva.

She is survived by a daughter, Irene Aleva Dunder and her husband Ron with whom she resided; a son, John L. Aleva, Sr. and his wife Joyce of Allen Park, Michigan; a brother, John Major, Jr. of Barton, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, Shaunna Dunder, Rhonda Dunder, John L. Aleva, Jr. and his wife Carmen; Renee Aleva Metropoulos and her husband Paul; Bryan Aleva and his wife Lisa and Charlene Aleva and her fiancee Ricardo Danich; 8 great grandchildren; Nick, Alex, Frank and Jack Aleva; Justin and Lucas Metropoulos; Jacob and Joshua Aleva; several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville with Vigil services at 3 p.m. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at Maynard with Father Dennis Lyden the celebrant. Burial follows at Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
