Iola Roberta Bonfini, 94, of Wheeling, WV took her first steps in eternity, peacefully surrounded by her family September 29, 2020 at Liza's Place.
She was born October 28, 1925 in Jacobsburg, Ohio, and was the last living daughter of the late Charles and Bertha (Brannen) Smith. Iola was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended Elm Grove United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Ladies Auxilliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #371 in Bellaire, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Bonfini; son-in-law, William Doty; five sisters, Ada Marie Otto, Owenah West, Myrtle Carmen, Anna Louise Brown, Eula Mae Smith and a brother, Charles Smith.
She was adored beyond measure by her three daughters, Sharon Doty of Barnesville, Connie (Paul) Kenzora of St. Clairsville and Cindy (Frank) Hotlosz of Wheeling; 10 grandchildren, Bonnie (Chad) Moore, Jackie Doty, Shari (David) Moore, Lisa Kenzora, Krislyn (David) Mamie, Kara (Paul) Ebert, Alexis Hotlosz, Andrew Hotlosz, Derek (Kashala) Hotlosz, and Vanessa Hotlosz, 10 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Iola was a beloved matriarch who immersed herself in nurturing her family. She showed her love through ordinary moments of kindness and compassion. Iola made a lasting impression on every person she met. A sweet, resilient spirit – she shared her strength with each of us. Not only was she a gentle and caring mother and grandmother, she was an irreplaceable friend. Blessed is an understated word for what we were given by her presence in our lives. Every day with Iola was a lesson on how to live life to its fullest.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and facial coverings will be required during visitation at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio on Friday from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm. where services will be held on Saturday at 11 am., with Reverend Jennifer J. Otto officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
