Walter, Helen Mae, 83, of Clover Ridge, Powhatan Point, Ohio, died Monday, April 27, 2009, at Belmont Community Hospital in Bellaire. She was born in Powhatan Point on March 2, 1926, daughter of the late Grover C. and Stella Thomas Richardson.
Helen was married to Wayne T. Walter, who preceded her in death, and spent most of her life as a homemaker. She and her husband raised three daughters: Nancy (Randy) Boan of Armstrong Mills, Ohio, Pat (Cliff) Marcum of Beallsville, Ohio, and Sandy (Scott) Moretz of Suwanee, Georgia. She was the loving grandmother of six grandchildren: Sara Boan, Andrew (Kristin) Boan, Alan Boan, Alicia Marcum, Anthony Marcum, and Daniel Moretz. She is also survived by a brother, Carroll Richardson, of Bellaire.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Harry and James Richardson; sisters, Mary Berka and Virginia Ockert; and two infant sisters.
Helen was a member of Grandview Christian Church near her home on Clover Ridge, where she lived for 57 years. For the past two years, she had resided at Westwood Landing in Woodsfield.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. with Pastor George Coffman officiating. Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery.
