Obituary

Helen Vanecko, 93 formerly of Maynard Rd., St. Clairsville and current resident of Forest Hill Nursing Home in St. Clairsville died Monday, September 29, 2008 at Wheeling Hospital.

She was born August 10, 1915 in Midway, a daughter of the late Mike and Anna Serdula.

Helen was a retired homemaker but worked many part time jobs including department store clerk, telephone operator, print shop, and gift shop clerk. She was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Barton, the St. C Alumni Association, and the Women's American Legion Auxiliary in Maynard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Vanecko; eight brothers and sisters, Mike Serdula, Ann Lukacsko, Pauline Zuzak, Marie Kramer, Margaret Shores, Betty Churchman, Stephan Serdula, and George Serdula.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, Joe and Jan Vanecko of Metamora, IL., and Robert and Cathy Vanecko of Columbus, OH.; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Justin, Jason, and Allison; a great grandson, Owen.

Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Thursday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. followed by a Funeral/Panachida service at 8 p.m.

Funeral Divine Liturgy will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Nicholas Church in Barton with the Very Reverend Michael Kabel officiating. Burial follows in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
