Helen A. Saunders Bittinger, 82, formerly of Jacobsburg and Bethesda, died Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell, OH. She was born July 1, 1920 in Warnock, Ohio, daughter of the late Leander and Pearl Workman Groves.
She was a retired Nurses Aide from Bell Nursing Home at Morristown; attended the Hillcrest Bible Church; and was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge at Caldwell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Saunders; her second husband, Boyd Kerr Bittinger; three brothers, Robert, Charles and Lewis Groves.
Surviving are her three sons, Henry Saunders and his wife Fran of Belmont, Bill Saunders and his wife Debby of St. Clairsville and Robert Frank Saunders and his wife Mary of Bethesda; three daughters, Carolyn Thomas and her husband Forrest of Cambridge, Sharon Clark and her husband Wayne of Caldwell and Rhoda Frances Ivey of Barnesville; a brother, Cyril Groves of Wellsburg, WV; three sisters, Zelda Barton of Barnesville, Edna Winzenreid of Centerville and Lola Mae Barnhart of Colliers, WV; 20 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 2 great great granddaughters; and a special friend, Earl Viars.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home, Jacobsburg, Ohio on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor George Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Bend Fork Cemetery.
