Helen K. Rouse, 92, of St. Clairsville, Ohio formerly of Colerain died Monday, January 22, 2018 at Cumberland Pointe in St. Clairsville.
She was born July 24, 1925 in New Brighton, PA, a daughter of the late Fred and Hilda Markle Smith.
Helen was a member of the Lancaster Chapel United Methodist Church in Sunset Heights and First Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville. She was a graduate of Pennsboro High School in Pennsboro, WV. She was also a graduate of St. Mary's School of Medical Technology in Clarksburg, WV. She spent most of her career working as a lab technician for the federal government. She was active in the Belmont County Extension and Colerain Homemakers. She was also active in the Friendly Circle of the Presbyterian Church in Colerain. She was also a member of Alpha Iota Sorority.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Rouse; two sisters, Martha Brandon of Wyoming and Ann Bennett of Columbus.
Surviving are an aunt, Virginia Markle of Columbus, OH; four nieces and a nephew, Karen Baer of Columbus, Sandra Canaday of Westerville, Elizabeth Bennett of Lake Milton, Phyllis Koch of Idaho, and Fred Brandon of Hawaii; several other nieces and nephews, including, Darlene (Denny) Lodge of Lloydsville and Charles (April) Galownia of Martins Ferry.
Friends will be received at First Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville on Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Homer Harden officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
