Helen Kupczak, age 95, of Maynard Rd., St. Clairsville, died Friday, February 20, 2004 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born November 29, 1908 at Lafferty, Ohio, daughter of the late John and Mary Zaleski Kowalewski.
She was a retired employee of Bermuda Knitware in New York City and a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at Maynard.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Kupczak; six brothers, Stanley, Henry, Frank, Tony, Joseph and Kizer Kowalewski; four sisters, Agnes Jacovetty, Josephine Kowalewski, Anna Wright and Stella DeMonte.
Surviving are three sisters, Florence Delbridge and Geneva "Jean" Kowalewski both of St. Clairsville and Marie Hitchcock of Wheeling; a brother, William Kowalewski of Cleveland, OH; a special niece, Jean Strawn of St. Clairsville; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Family and Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 23, 2004 at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Maynard with Father Thomas Graven the celebrant. Burial follows at Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville. Vigil services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
