Helen Antionette Barto Garrett, 76, of Holloway, formerly of Flushing, passed on her birthday, Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at The James, OSU Medical Center, Columbus.
She was born Sept. 10, 1940 in Piedmont, Ohio daughter of the late Peter and Velma VanFossen Barto.
Helen was superintendent's assistant at the Belmont County Home and Oakview Nursing Home and dietary supervisor for Oakview, Park Health and Crestview Nursing Homes. She was a Catholic by faith; a member of Flushing American Legion Auxiliary Unit 366 and Lafferty Moose Lodge 1462. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and watching birds and wildlife.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Barto; sisters, Betty and Nancy Beal; sister-in-law Sharon Barton; and a stepson, Matt Kemp.
Surviving are her husband, Larry Garrett; daughters, Kimberly, Carolyn and Janice Calovini all of Flushing and son, Ronnie Calovini of Lafferty; stepchildren, Matt Garrett, Tim, John and David O'Conner, Mark, Misty and Michael Kemp; grandchildren, Cheyenne Calovini, Emily Calovini, Luke Baker, Kody Hamilton, Kole Hamilton, Broc Stokes, Brandi Wisor, Bud Wisor, Brandon Calovini, Shane Calovini, Tyler Calovini and Matt "Bodie" Garrett; great grandchildren, Jonathan, Clayton, Caysen, Jaxxen, Brantley and Leo; brothers, Peter (HenLe) Barto and Mike Barto of Flushing and Mark (Debbie) Barto of Holloway; a sister, Susan (Kenneth) Cordner of Flushing; several nieces and nephews, including Jennifer and Donnie Simpson; and her favorite doggie, Lola.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, where services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with Monsignor Gerald Calovini officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing.
