Barnes, Helen S., 84 of Willow Grove Rd., Bellaire, Ohio died Friday, January 25, 2008 in St. Clairsville.

She was born at Cherry Valley, Pa. on May 8, 1923 a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Zajac.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Joseph Barnes and two brothers, Walter and Stephan Zajac.

Helen was a homemaker, a Catholic by faith and a U.S. Navy Medical Corps veteran of World War II.

She is survived by her husband Andrew J. "Gump" Barnes; daughters, Dorothy "Cookie" Billeter and Peggy J. (Terry) Schmidt both of St. Clairsville; a son Richard (Patty) Barnes of Twinsburg, Ohio; a sister, Elizabeth "Bebe" (Steve) Malolepszy of Shadyside, Ohio; grandchildren Raeanne (Richard) Ameele, Douglas S. (Inger) Barnes, Brad L. Barnes, Jeremy A. (Lesa) Schmidt and Matthew R. Schmidt and fiancé Jennifer Friend; great grandchildren Dixon and Violet Ameele and Kyan Henry Barnes.

Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. where services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. with Monsignor Mark Froehlich officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
