Bumgarner, Harry L. "Butch", 64, of Piqua, Ohio died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Liza?s Place in Wheeling, West Virginia.
He was born February 25, 1946 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, son of Ethelene Laizure Bumgarner and the late Harry G. Bumgarner.
Harry worked in Economic Development for many years in Marietta, Akron, Marion, Dayton and retired from the city of Piqua as the Assistant City Manager/Director of Economic Development. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served as First Lieutenant during the Vietnam War. He is a member of the VFW in Piqua; a member of the Ohio Economic Development Association and a member of the Fairmont Presbyterian Church in Kettering, Ohio.
In addition to his father, Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jean Paxton Bumgarner; a brother-in-law, Dr. Bruce Paxton and a nephew, Andy Paxton.
Surviving are his two sons, Adam Bumgarner (wife Annie) of Centerville, Ohio and Aaron Bumgarner (significant other Andrea Nelson) of Stamford, Connecticut; granddaughter, Nora Jean Bumgarner; mother, Ethelene Bumgarner of St. Clairsville, Ohio; sister, Bonnie Davenport (husband James) of St. Clairsville; sister-in-law, Aline Paxton of Athens, Ohio; several nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home, 141 S. Marietta St., St. Clairsville, Ohio on Thursday from 5 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Bradley Call officiating.
The Belmont County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct Full Military Honors on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
An additional Memorial Service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 31st at 1 p.m. at the Fairmont Presbyterian Church, 3705 Far Hills Avenue, Kettering, Ohio with the Rev. Robert Wade officiating.
Interment will be held at the Miami Valley Memorial Gardens in Centerville, Ohio at a later date.
