IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harold M.
Schumacher
March 28, 1938 – March 11, 2026
Harold Schumacher, age 87, the beloved oldest son of Lawrence and Genevieve Schumacher, passed away peacefully in Tampa, Florida on March 11th, 2026.
Born on March 28, 1938, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, Harold lived a full and meaningful life centered on faith, family, friendship, and simple joys like morning coffee and a good western movie. Harold was known for his strong work ethic and dedication throughout his career. He was an Army Veteran, worked for the United Dairy, served as a volunteer firefighter in St. Clairsville, Ohio and held multiple roles at Hannah and Consolidated Coal Mines, including serving as a safety supervisor. He retired from the Belmont County Water Department before retiring to Land O Lakes, Florida.
Harold was the loving husband and best friend of his wife, Nancy Schumacher (Merryman), with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a lifetime of cherished memories. They were dedicated parishioners at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church where he served as an usher. Harold especially enjoyed traveling with Nancy and their community travel club. Harold is survived by four siblings, Susan Perko, Mary Ann McCort, Mike Schumacher and John Schumacher. Harold was a proud and devoted father and is also survived by his four children, Rose Marie (Larry Huffman), Joseph (Deborah), Michael (Michele), and Mark (Krista). He found his greatest joy in the experiences he shared with his family. His love continued to grow through his four grandchildren, Balea, Justin, Elena, and Mason. Harold loved his grandchildren unconditionally and delighted in every moment spent with them.
Above all, Harold will be remembered as a man who loved deeply, lived faithfully, and found true happiness in the presence of his family, especially his beloved Nancy.
Private services will be held for family and friends on March 20th, 2026.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Cumberland Trail Fire District St. Clairsville, Ohio.
