IN LOVING MEMORY OF
H. Dean
Dunfee
June 11, 1953 – January 23, 2023
Harold "Dean" Dunfee, 69, passed away Monday, January 23, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.
Dean was born June 11, 1953, and is the son of the late Harold and Mary B Dunfee (Christy) of Belmont, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Mary B Dunfee, daughter Allison Dunfee, and sister Margie Filichia.
He is survived by his wife Loretta Dunfee and children Crystal (Dominic) Pietranton, Melissa (Keith) Luyster, Eric Dunfee, and Tyler Dunfee. Grandchildren Colten and Rylan Luyster and Ella Pietranton. Sisters Sarah (Bob) Bassler, Mary Ellen (Jack) Hannahs, Sandra (Tom) Snyder, Susan (Keith) Ogilbee. He has many nieces and nephews and many loving cousins and special friends from a lifelong career at Union Local. Of note, TJ Kelley was like another son to him.
He was a lifelong farmer and owner of the 3 rd generation family farm. At Trail's End Farm, he loved raising cattle, making hay, and chopping corn for silage. Anyone who knew Dean knew you would usually find him at a Union Local High School sporting event or some type of agricultural event. He was an avid Jets fan and retired from Union Local after serving as a Bus Driver for 25 years. He took great pride in transporting children to school and sporting events and never missed an opportunity to cheer on the Jets even if he wasn't transporting them. He also took great pride in coaching youth sports and trying to make each child feel special. He was stern yet compassionate with all. He never missed an opportunity to help others. When his daughter Allison needed a lifesaving kidney transplant, he was the first to get tested and offered to be her living kidney donor. Probably his greatest enjoyment in life was his grandchildren and he enjoyed watching them succeed.
He was a lifelong friend of Ohio agriculture and 4-H, Ohio Cattlemen's Association, founding & lifelong Union Local FFA Alumni member and State FFA Degree recipient, lifelong Belmont County Farm Bureau member, longtime OAPSE member and former President, and forever Union Local Jets Fan.
The family requests donations be made to any Wesbanco Bank and made payable to the Allison Dunfee Memorial Scholarship Fund for scholarships for Union Local High School graduates attending some type of trade school or agricultural school.
