Glenn R. "Jim" Goddard, 87, of Armstrongs Mills, Ohio died at home on Saturday, April 18, 2015.
He was born May 20, 1927 in Alledonia, Ohio, son of the late Russell J. and Eula Schaefer Goddard.
Jim was a retired coal miner from North American Coal's Powhatan # 1 Mine and Ohio Valley Coal's # 6 Mine and he was co-owner and operator of Boston's Store in Armstrongs Mills. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II; a member of the Beallsville American Legion Post #768; the UMWA local # 1810; and an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Boston Goddard; his son, Michael A. Goddard; a granddaughter, Cara Goddard Baker; two great grandsons, Dylan Bable and Jordan Goddard; a sister, Linda Goddard; and his brother, Berl Goddard.
Surviving are his two sons, Glenn R. "Butch" Goddard and his wife Alice of Senecaville, Dennis Keith "Denny" Goddard and his wife Melissa of Centerville; grandchildren, Eric (Stacy) Goddard, Becky (Michael) Rogalski, Michael (Christian) Goddard, Kimmy (Nick) Goddard, Justin Goddard, Shawn (Jimmy) Bable, Alicia (Matt) DeVore and Joshua Goddard; 14 great grandchildren; a brother, Rex Goddard of Beallsville; three sisters, Wanda Crall of Barnesville, Phyllis Haught of Alledonia and Paulette Kover of Armstrongs Mills.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg where services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday with Pastor Rusty Atkinson officiating. Burial follows in Armstrong Cemetery.
Full Military Honors will be conducted by Beallsville American Legion Thursday at 12:45 p.m. in the funeral home.
