Obituary
Christy, Dr. Glenn A., 84, of St. Clairsville, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born in Adena, Ohio on July 6, 1923, son of the late Earl Jay Christy and Grace Violet Hudson Christy.
Glenn operated a family dental practice in St. Clairsville from 1947 until 1994. He was an oral surgeon practicing in Martins Ferry for 47 years. He was a U.S. Navy and U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II and the Korean War.
He was a graduate of the Ohio State University and a member of the OSU Alumni Association; he served as president of the Belmont County Ohio State Alumni Assn. and was a huge "Buckeye Fan". Glenn was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Wheeling; a member of the St. Clairsville Rotary Club and the Belmont Hills Country Club for over 60 years; a member of the Saints Club; Smithfield Lodge # 182 F. & A.M.; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Cambridge; Eastern Ohio Dental Society serving as secretary and treasurer for many years; he was a member and served as a delegate to the American Dental Association as well as the Ohio Dental Association.
In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Hill Christy; and a sister, Carolyne Covert.
He is survived by his daughters, Stephany Wall and her husband John of Windsor, Connecticut, Dr. E. Jennifer Christy and her husband Peter Bookman of Wilmington, Delaware and Paige Christy of Ashland, Virginia; four grandchildren, Jeremy and Carrie Wall, Sarah Kelley and Mark Curtis; loving sister-in-law, Annie Rose Hill Clerc; brother-in-law, John D. Helm; devoted nephew, David Covert and his wife Susan of Bradenton, Florida; many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Wheeling on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Mark Seitz officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 1410 Chaplain St., Wheeling, WV 26003 or the Cumberland Trail Firefighters Assn., P. O. Box 262, St. Clairsville, OH 43950.
