Obituary

Furbee, Gladys Shannon, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Bishop Joseph Hodges Continuous Care Center in Wheeling.

She was born in Powhatan Point, Ohio a daughter of the late Aaron Shannon and Emma Sailer Shannon.

Gladys was a retired school teacher with 20 years of service in Martins Ferry and Bellaire School Districts. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville where she served as Deacon and Elder; a member of Belmont Hills Country Club; and member of the Tuesday Night Club.

In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Austin C. Furbee in 1973; three brothers, Aaron, Russell and John (Vera) Shannon; two sisters, Betty (John) Hranko and Evelyn (Chauncey) Linard.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Glenn) Dickey of Westerville; a stepdaughter, Janet Davis of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a grandson, Matthew Dickey of Westerville; two step-grandchildren, Brad and Karen Davis of Denver, Colorado; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. with Rev. Homer Harden officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville.
