Gerald G. Dopkiss, 88, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died peacefully at Liza's Place in Wheeling, West Virginia on September 20, 2024.

He was born July 29, 1936, a son of the late Frank and Alma Applegarth Dopkiss.

Gerald was a retired employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve for 8 years. He was a lifelong member and Elder of the Maynard United Methodist Church and a member of the Maynard Sportsman's Club. Gerald was an avid baseball fan and played for Maynard Indians in the Ohio Vally Baseball League for 30+ years and coached Maynard Little League for 8 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Nancy Chuckery Dopkiss and a daughter, Melinda Ann Dopkiss.

Gerald is survived by his son, Gerald Alan (Kelly) Dopkiss of Maynard; three grandchildren, Gerald (Marisa) Dopkiss II, Zachary Dopkiss and Ryan Cox; two great grandchildren, Caiden and Colton Dopkiss; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the Maynard Methodist Church in Maynard, Ohio, on Saturday, October 5th, from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 12 p.m., with Pastor Al Hoder officiating. A private burial will be in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville, at the convenience of the family.
