George Scott Thornburg, passed away peacefully in his sleep in Centerville, Ohio, November 21, 2021. He was born June 1, 1959, a son of Becky Oldham Thornburg and the late George Edward Thornburg.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eric Thornburg.
Scott is survived by his mother, Becky Thornburg, a sister, Susan Sargent; a brother, John David Thornburg; three nieces, Holly Reece, Amy Sargent and Elizabeth Thornburg; a nephew, Mark Sargent; two great nephews, Harrison Reece and Christopher Dailey; a great niece, Chloe Reece; and an aunt, Jane Thornburg.
Scott courageously battled an illness for many years. He was a 1977 graduate of Centerville High School and earned his Bachelor of Engineering Degree from Hocking Technical College and his Associate Degree in computer software design from Sinclair Community College. Scott was an avid fisherman, enjoyed building remote controlled airplanes and loved his dog, Abby.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Thoburn United Methodist Church in St. Clairsville, Ohio, on Saturday, January 8, 2022, with memorial visitation from 1 p.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m., officiated by Rev. Thomas Jones, with the burial next to his dad and brother Eric at Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville.
