SEMANCIK, George Joseph, 89, of Barton, Ohio, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 in East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.
He was born in Barton, Ohio on January 4, 1923, son of the late Michael and Frances Timko Semancik.
George was retired from Tri-State Asphalt and a member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Maynard. He was a member of the First Slovak Catholic Lodge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Nagy Semancik; 5 brothers, John, Michael, William, Albert and Richard Semancik; and 4 sisters, Marge Estock, Ann Bozick, Helen, and Elizabeth Semancik.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Violet Crane Semancik; a daughter, Donna (Don) Guthrie of Martins Ferry; a son, Donald (Debbie) Semancik of St. Clairsville; a stepson, Timothy (Maureen) Minor of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Irene Zambori of Wisconsin; 4 grandchildren, Kelly and Donald Guthrie, Shannon and Dalton Minor; 2 great grandchildren, Tessa and Payton Guthrie; nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 3 p.m.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Maynard on Monday at 10:30 a.m. with Father Thomas Graven as the celebrant. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Blaine.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Maynard or the Barton Vol. Fire Dept.
