George Thomas "Tom" Selmon, 75, of Shadyside, Ohio passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024 at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, Ohio. He was born November 22, 1948 in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late George Junior and Virginia Mae Tyler- Selmon.
Tom was retired from the former North American Coal Company #6 mine which he started at in 1973 until retirement in 2009. and was well respected member of the UMWA, a Protestant by faith. Tom proudly served in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Da Nang from 1968-69 during the Vietnam Conflict. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Ellen Williams.
Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Dixie L. Day-Selmon of Shadyside; his children, Shawn (Tammy) Selmon of Shadyside and Sharissa Selmon of Colerain, Ohio; siblings, Robert V. (Janice) Selmon of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Patricia Pugh of Shadyside and Carolyn (Butch) McAfee of Shadyside; three grandchildren, Colton Selmon, Brooke Selmon and Koen Greenwood.
Private graveside services were held on Thursday at 2 pm at Powhatan Cemetery with Pastor Jack Palmer officiating. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
