Obituary

Neff, George E. 88 of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling.

He was born at Jacobsburg, Ohio on July 29, 1921 a son of the late Harry and Ethel Douglas Neff.

George served as Sheriff of Belmont County for 16 years and was currently a Special Deputy for the department. He was also a former employee of the Belmont Co. Engineers Office, Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, a security officer for the City Hospital, Bellaire and an Iron Worker for Shenango Steel,

He was a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church at St. Clairsville, a 50 year member of Weyer Lodge #541 F.& A.M. at Centerville, Ohio State University Varsity "O" Member, a precinct committeeman for the Democratic Party of Belmont County, and a life member of the Saints Club, the Sons of Italy of Bellaire and the Bellaire High School Alumni Assoc.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Veronica Gongola Neff; his son Richard L. Neff; 7 brothers and 1 sister.

He is survived by his daughters, Delores "Dolly" Springhetti, Barbara Stewart and Pamela Neff all of St. Clairsville; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville on Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m. with Masonic services at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Bradley Call officiating. Burial will in Jacobsburg Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the St. Clairsville Eagles.
