Obituary

George W. Kuzma, 84 of Warnock, Ohio died Thursday, June 24, 2004 at his farm.

He was born at Warnock on April 8, 1920 at son of the late Pete and Mary Fedorka Kuzma.

George was a retired coal miner having worked for 47 years at Oglebay-Norton?s Captina Mine and Y & O Coal?s Allison mine and was a life long farmer. He was 1st Division Commander for the 11th District of the American Legion, and was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 632 at Glencoe, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5356 at St. Clairsville and the DAV at Bellaire. George served his country during World War II from 1941 to 1945 as a combat infantryman with Company B, 186th Infantry in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre during the battle for New Guinea. His decorations and citations include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Rifle Marksman Badge, Good Conduct Ribbon, American Defense Service Medal and Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon. George was very active in helping to provide military services for his fallen comrades and will be greatly missed by his fellow Legionnaires

In addition to his parents he was preceded by his brother, Pete Kuzma.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Julia S. Kleevic Kuzma; his sons, George (Laura) Kuzma of Tucson, AZ; Mark (Claire) Kuzma of Cincinnati; Bruce (Janine) Kuzma of Akron and John (Kathy) Kuzma of Washington, PA; sisters Anna Popovich and Mary Janosik both of Lamira and grandchildren, Anthony and Angela; Adam and Courtney; Lucas and Logan; Tara and Johnny.

Friends will be received on Sunday 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville where services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Msgr. Mark Froehlich officiating. Burial will follow at the Warnock Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Belmont County Council of American Legions.
