George "Wagon Wheel" Laverne Kirkland, 69, of Moundsville, WV passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale, WV. He was born July 27, 1954, in Bellaire, OH, a son of the late William A. Kirkland and Virginia L. Boyd Kirkland Bell.

George was a retired coal miner and truck driver. He enjoyed cooking, cutting his grass, drinking coffee, and watching TV, especially game shows and Cops. But most of all, George loved spending quality time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles L. Bell; mother-in-law, Olive Carrel; son, James Jak Kimble; three brothers, William "Bill" Kirkland, Charles Kirkland, and Timothy Bell; sister, Mary Louise Schmitt; and a nephew, Brandon Smith.

George is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Catherine Carrel Kirkland; his children, Carla Kirkland, Cristina (Trent) Tucker, Ashley Greer, and Latasha Kirkland; four sisters, Virginia Sue (Tom) Kovaly, Vicky Lent, Kimberly (Delbert) Sexton, and Audrey Sabo; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his special little buddy Jacob Smith; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 5pm until time of funeral services at 7pm at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville with Pastor Wayne Clark officiating. Final arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family.
