George Willard Hess, 82 of Martin Hollow Rd., Bellaire, Ohio died Thursday, June 30, 2005 at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, Ohio.

He was born July 22, 1922 in Willow Grove. A son of the late Willard Wilson Hess and Eva E. Johnston Hess.

He was a retired employee of Ohio Ferro-Alloy, an Army veteran of WWII, and member of the Neffs American Legion and Neffs Rod and Gun Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Hess; a sister, Rosamae Jones; a brother, Henry Hess.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Pertican Hess; a daughter, Eva Arlene Workman of Bellaire; a son, George W. "Chip" Hess of Powhatan Point; three sisters, Norabell Burghy of Washington, Pennsylvania, Jenilee Kinney of Cadiz, and Nancy Zurich of Adena; a brother, Daniel Hess of Enfield, Connecticut; a grandson, David Hess.

A private graveside service was held on Saturday, July 2, 2005 at High Ridge Cemetery, Bellaire with Father Gary Zalenski officiating.
